About Kevin Smyth

Kevin is the owner and creator of Fit Personal Training Studio. He has worked over 20 years as a fitness professional, teacher and coach. His passion was to create a fitness studio that provided a progressive, comfortable, approachable environment that delivered guaranteed results. Kevin has spent many years helping and teaching others about exercise, how to change their bodies and make fitness part of a lifestyle.

Kevin’s passion for fitness formed early as a young adult. While competing in several youth sports programs he became eager to improve his size and strength. He began weight training in high school and positive physical and emotional changes soon became evident. With the results that he experienced for himself, and meeting other friends that became his mentors along the way, he learned he could help people to change their lives, as he had changed his own. This was his ultimate transition to a passion for fitness.

As a collegiate athlete, Kevin was a cheerleader at the University of Akron for 4 years, and was captain his fourth year. While cheerleading he also competing nationally in the COA College Couple National Championships. He cheered professionally with the Cleveland Cavaliers with their co-ed stunting and tumbling cheer team. During the 1991-92 season he was Head Cheerleading Coach at Kent State University. Attending graduate school at Northern Arizona University, he was Cheerleading Coach from 1992-95.

After graduate school he held many roles including Fitness Director and Group Exercise Coordinator at various health clubs in Arizona. He competed in the National Aerobic Championships in the Mixed Pairs Division. Following that competition, he moved to Hawaii, where he was Director of Group Exercise and a Personal Trainer for the Honolulu Club.

Kevin holds personal training certification with NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine). Other certifications include Madd Dogg Spin instructor, TRX Suspension Training, ACE Personal Trainer and Group Instructor and AFAA Group Instructor. He is also a USAT Level I Certified Triathlon Coach.
